I was playing with the configuration tonight and realized I can add images to forums, so I added a few for trial. How do you like it? any suggestions for pictures to use for the remaining forums?

Being a computer guy and as our society is moving to graphics and pictures for signage and communications in lieu of words I'd say this would fit right in.

On a purely personal level, I like it as it looks like most do reviewing the survey results - at this time.

I like it.
If it is decided to to use the icon photos, I think they will need to be used for all forums, otherwise it will look a bit odd.

not a fan, dont ask me why, just doesn't look right,

might be ok if you were doing a forum based on specific species (ie a guapote forum or similar, or possibly a type sp of a genus and the forum was dedicated to that genus)

but in that aspect I'm strange, I prefer catalogues with well formatted text over photos....

I like the new icons as well.

Can we make it so it is easier, on the index page, to see if a forum has new posts. I have trouble seeing the red and blue rings. Can you make it so the simulated text in the circle moves, like it does for popular posts inside the forums.

Thanks!

Apparently I have to modify the style template, it should be possible but I don't know. I will look into it.

I have an easier way Juan.

Make a backup of:
/forum/styles/prosilver/imageset/forum_unread.gif
by renaming the file to
forum_unread.bak

Download:
/forum/styles/prosilver/imageset/topic_unread_hot.gif
Rename it to
forum_unread.gif
Upload it back to the same directory.

That will accomplish the goal with out resorting to editing templates.

Way easier, thanks Alex! Done. I will need to remember when I make a style upgrade. I hope it does not get too annoying whatching moving text on the main page, as people don't usually visit all forums. What do you think?

I like it, it makes it easier for me to see what forums have new posts. When I visit the board, I generally go through all the forums, even if it is just to read the post titles.

I hope others like it.

I think if it were to bother anyone then they should get to reading. ;)
I am a minimalist and it doesn't bother me any, merely reminds me that I am way behind on my reading.
Now the ghosted text on the buttons. ;)

The ghosted text in the buttons is annoying, but to be honest I just thought it was something on my end.

I assume that has been a bug that is hard to catch. :D

It's just a matter of having a copy of the files to compare.
