Spam control

Post by Juan Artigas »

Spam control has become a highly time consuming nightmare for the site administrators, in order to keep it simpler, the system deletes user accounts that have registered with 30 days of anticipation but have never posted at least one message. So please, if you are registered and don't want your account deleted, post at least once. When a moderator approves your post, your account wont be anymore subject to deletion. Thanks for your understanding.

*edit*

**** Please post a message somewhere in the forum, but not on this thread. Once we've determined that you are not a spammer, you will be removed from the new users group. This will allow you to post normally and to have access to private messaging.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

You're approved on the site, but you may want to post your request in the appropriate section below. Just remember that you should deal with your trades/sales in private messages.

I would like to apologize for sending the same thread about red zebra bloat twice. I sent it firstly from tapatalk and it didnt show the message about admin verification, then I sent it from PC. So, please do not consider it to be spam. Thank you

Not a problem. Just one of the many issues that crop up from dealing with spammers. :)

Am I supposed to send a reply to this post to be able to post on other topics?

Not really. You can reply to the posts, they just won't be seen until a moderator allows the posts. It's the only way we can really make sure you're 'fish guy' and not a spammer. Welcome to the forum.

I have tried to post, but it says that my posts must be revised first. My posts never appeared online.

To stop spammers, we need a few posts from people to make sure they are really fish people and then we remove the restrictions and let you post like crazy. I've moved your other post to here - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14041

Hello,

you can also edit the htaccess file on your webhost to ban access from the originator of spam.

There are this many individual spammers causing problems on the site from so many countries ?

Would only accepting an isp based email address for the verify link to be sent to during the registration process be workable ?

We have many, many spammers. I understand there should probably be add ons to the forum software that would help reduce them. However, our method right now assures almost no SPAM in the forum. Unfortunately, there are some inconveniences, but so far we can live with them and provide a happy environment to our users. We will keep our eyes open for new solutions. Thanks for your concern

I'm a bit confused with the anti-spam measures. Do I need to post a minimum number of replies or create a minimum number of threads before I will be allowed to send private messages?

Thanks,

Basically you should post on the forum somewhere so we know that you are not a spammer and someone will remove you from the new users group, which restricts your access to the pm system.
