I recently got a group of seven young Coptodon Kottae (less than 2" currently) that I currently have growing in a 29 gallon with sand substrate . I know these are somewhat rare in the hobby, but wanted to see if anyone had input on tank mates. I have a 75 gallon with gravel substrate that has a 3" Synodontis Petricola, 4" Synodontis Eupterus, 3" Synodontis Decorus, and a 2.5" L-201 Snowball pleco.
The cichlids seem to really like the sand bottom and I originally planned on moving them to the 75gallon. I'm not sure how they'll get along with the catfish and if they'll like the gravel bottom as much. The guy I got the cichlid off only kept them in a species only tank. If anyone has any input, I'm interested on hearing it.

Re: Coptodon Kottae tank mates?
I am keeping a group of 9 C. kottae myself. Im keeping them together with a group of Pelmatochromis buettikoferi, a few unidentified Coptodon and a Geophagus steindachneri and a pair silver dollars left over from when my tank was more of a South American setup.
